Our name “Aequalend,” draws from the Latin word for “equal,” “aequalis,” and “lend,” illustrating our commitment to making lending and financial services accessible and equitable for all, particularly underserved and minority communities.

    CEO & Co-Founder

    Marc Hernandez is a veteran within the mortgage industry with nearly two decades of experience. Most recently, he was President at Alterra Home Loans, where he propelled the growth and success while advocating for equitable financial solutions within underserved communities for over eight years. His commitment to excellence has been recognized through honors such as HousingWire's Rising Star award and is a thought leader for his commitment to breaking barriers in the financial industry, having been quoted in The New York Times and other trade publications.

  • SANDRA ESTRELLA

    President & Co-Founder

    Sandra is a leader in the mortgage industry for nearly 20 years and a top 1% Mortgage Originator Nationwide for 10 years. With a passion for serving families and first time home buyers, she is known for her commitment to excellence and leading teams of over 100 loan officers. In her spare time she teaches financial literacy to youth at Big Brothers Big Sisters and sits on multiple philanthropic boards.
